High quality educators are the key to student success and we are committed to recruiting and developing talented teachers and school leaders. Our schools include a mix of experienced teachers, teachers just starting out, career educators and career changers, AmeriCorps members serving as tutors and supportive school leadership.
We believe that individualized instruction changes academic and personal trajectories and therefore we provide our students daily small group or individual tutoring through the Great Oaks Tutor Corps – Urban Education Fellowship AmeriCorps program in addition to traditional class periods.
We believe in teacher development therefore we have partnerships with both NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development and Relay GSE, Great Oaks uses a Teacher Residency model to develop a pipeline of educators that will serve our communities for years to come.
We believe that experienced teachers add tremendous value to our students’ learning and also to the development of more novice teachers. Experienced teachers work closely with leadership to inform and influence current and future instructional decisions.
